Nature Photographers Network Editor's Pick
I finally joined the digital SLR world when I bought a Sony A100 in August 2006. This was the first award winner from the new camera. Pairing the A100 with my 200mm macro lens is a fantastic combination for flora and macro work. It's also a rare day that our Rose of Sharon hibiscus doesn't give me an image or two. Because these are very large flowers I almost always shoot them at dawn when the air is calm and the light is warm. Even a slight zephyr causes troublesome subject movement at this kind of magnification. The flowers also fade quickly and by late afternoon they're on their way out. Can you hear the sound of Reveille?
